IP/TV - Video Broadcasting Servers from Cisco Systems

IP/TV is Cisco Systems' video broadcasting system for PCs. It delivers scheduled and on demand video over enterprise networks. Features include high quality video, fully synchronized audio, Question Manager for audience feedback, an electronic program guide, and managed video stream distribution with load balancing and bandwidth management. I developed MacTV to bring some of those same viewing capabilities to the Mac. Our whitepaper describes three ways to use QuickTime with IP/TV.

IP/TV components

IP/TV video servers send either realtime or prerecorded video over IP based networks. The IP/TV Content Manager keeps a database of all the content and controls what videos get sent and tracks the viewership. The Content Manager does load balancing across multiple servers and can limit the amount of bandwidth used to send video on your network.

Get your own IP/TV Demo CD.

Cisco will send you a free IP/TV Demo CD. This CD contains a time limited copy of all the IP/TV software. The IP/TV server comes with some prerecorded content or it can stream your own live or stored content. Note that the IP/TV products require a PC to run.
